hello all. it has been quite a long time since i put up this site/blog and i am finally getting around to adding an entry. the big exciting news is that nicole and are will be taking a two week trip to the philippines and japan. we are going to manila to celebrate my grandfather’s 90th birthday. it should be fun. the whole family is going + nicole has never been there before.
i think that we will split our time in japan between tokyo and kyoto. it will be expensive but exciting. it will also be nice to see ken in tokyo. i plan on taking a ton of photos so be on the look out.

Hello. So now I am on to this podcast thing. I am starting up a 'w/h~n podcast'.... I want it to be something that I update maybe once every two weeks or so, mostly containing ambient music and field recordings. I'd love to take submissions from people... so get in touch.

Here is the poster for a great event that we are doing at Holocene here in Portland. The night is called 'Vision & Hearing'... a great selection of bands will be playing original music to accompany the films of several filmmakers. It should be a lot of fun.

last week my co-worker Brian and I happened upon this old building on a little lake near Vernonia, OR.
It seems to be some kind of old mill. As you can see... the roof is long gone. Trees have grown from the floor of the building, up past the roof line. The interior of the building is all cement and is covered with graffiti of all kinds. I really want to go back there with some microphones and some instruments (a drum set would be great)... the sound inside the building is pretty amazing. It would make a beautiful echo chamber.

two sundays ago my friend Avalon organized an outdoor drum set circle in Laurelhurst Park. It was a nice day... not too warm. We all had a really nice time. there were five of us but only 4 drum sets. That was fine because it gave us each a little time to take a break and walk around. The people in the park that happened by seemed to enjoy it very much. I hope we can do this again soon... maybe with even more drum sets. Six would be great.
this photo came from avalon... I have others I should post. I need to get some from Adam as well.

so i decided to try out this blog thing. it seemed like it could be fun... maybe not. anyway, i'm just thinking that i will sometimes share some pictures and maybe some music. we'll see how it goes. thanks.
